Invitation Letter to Mr. Elon Musk

Dear Mr. Musk,

I hope this letter finds you in good spirits.

My name is Dong Ruixiang, a Chinese national who has long been deeply inspired by your innovative spirit to transform the world and your fearless dreams of reaching for the stars. I have always been a loyal follower of your career and philosophy. I own a collection of merchandise inspired by your brand, including clothing and aerospace-themed souvenirs. When I drive my Tesla Model Y, I even affectionately customize the badge to read "Model Yes" and select a license plate that bears the iconic "X" symbol: 京ABX1181. These small personal touches are my heartfelt expression of admiration for your spirit of exploration and innovative vision.

I have the honor of being a torchbearer for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and currently serve as a Committee Member of the Chinese Ride-Sharing Council. I am the founder and driving force behind the public welfare initiative "Small Kindnesses Change the World," integrating acts of goodness into the fabric of daily life. My Tesla has become a mobile platform for education and public welfare. During rides, I often share Denmark's advanced educational philosophy with passengers, aiming to alleviate the pressure on young people from exam-oriented education. I offer free rides to aspiring young educators who wish to learn about Nordic educational wisdom, conveying the warmth of education through these small acts. I firmly believe that if we were to select an ambassador among China's 2 million Tesla owners to embody passion and philosophy in action, I would be the most deserving candidate. I sincerely hope my dedication meets with your approval: "Dong! You're the ultimate Tesla Model, Yes!"

My life's work has always been rooted in education and public welfare. I have taught in Chinese primary and secondary schools, founded a trading company, volunteered as a teacher in Namibia, Africa, to contribute to local education, and served as a UN Project Officer, advancing international educational public welfare projects. During my studies in Denmark, I was profoundly inspired by a country with a population of less than 6 million that has nonetheless produced 14 Nobel laureates, world-renowned brands like LEGO, and consistently ranks among the highest in global happiness indexes, boasting a harmonious and vibrant society. Through deep research, I discovered the core of this achievement lies in Denmark's educational philosophy for young children—respecting nature, nurturing creativity, and fostering holistic growth. This has become the educational original aspiration I am dedicated to spreading for a lifetime.

Since 2017, with the generous support of the Lao Niu Foundation and kind-hearted individuals such as Zhang Huaren, Ming Siqing, and Tang Yuanqi, I have organized over 200 renowned Chinese educators, kindergarten directors, and primary school principals to conduct in-depth study tours in Denmark. Upon their return, these educators have inspired thousands of practitioners on the front lines to implement Nordic educational principles, sparking a "Nordic Education Trend" in China that combines warmth with depth. This has also facilitated the integration of advanced Nordic educational concepts into China's educational practice and policy optimization.

In 2021, with the support of Mr. Benny Nybo (founder of the Hans Christian Andersen Literary Award) and the full assistance of the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, this educational study tour program was officially upgraded to the Hans Christian Andersen Teacher Award. Each year, we honor ten outstanding teachers who are dedicated to education, uphold childlike innocence, and dare to innovate. We provide full funding for them to study in Denmark and receive a special award ceremony at the Hans Christian Andersen Museum. In the name of Hans Christian Andersen, we pay tribute to every educator who safeguards children's imagination and cultivates future creators, upholding the eternal legacy of dreams, innocence, and innovation.

In the eyes of the world, you are a great dreamer, engineer, and industrialist reshaping the landscape of human technology and aerospace. In our hearts, you are also a visionary educational innovator and a warm father. You accompany your children's growth with care, break away from rigid traditional educational frameworks, and personally founded Ad Astra School. With a global perspective for the space age, you explore talent training models for the future—your emphasis on curiosity, imagination, adventurous spirit, and first-principles thinking not only drives technological breakthroughs but also lights the spark of exploration in young people worldwide, inspiring them to break cognitive boundaries and expand the infinite possibilities of humanity's future. Essentially, what you do is plant the seeds of dreams for the next generation, nurturing creators who will journey to space and shape the future. This resonates perfectly with the core mission of the Hans Christian Andersen Teacher Award: "Guard Innocence, Encourage Exploration, Nurture Dreams." This is why we are determined to pay you the highest tribute.

After discussion by the Council of the Hans Christian Andersen Teacher Award, we are deeply honored to officially announce that you have been selected as the 2026 Hans Christian Andersen Teacher Award Special Laureate. The list of laureates will be announced on April 2nd this year—Hans Christian Andersen's birthday. We understand that this date, which includes your favorite number 42, is a beautiful encounter between the spirit of exploration and the original heart of fairy tales, as well as an unexpected meeting of dreams and glory.

We sincerely invite you to join the ten laureates of this year in traveling to Denmark in October to participate in educational innovation exchange activities and receive the award in person at the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, presented by the museum's curator. We are fully aware of your immense responsibilities in advancing human technological progress and exploring the future of space, and that your time is extremely precious. If you are unable to travel to Denmark, we are fully prepared to adjust our schedule and travel to the Boca Chica Starbase in the United States, where you are deeply immersed in your career, to hold the award ceremony for you. We eagerly look forward to the opportunity to witness the Starship launch and witness this great moment of humanity's journey to space.

As I reside in Beijing, I am currently unable to access X.com due to internet restrictions. Therefore, I have entrusted Mr. Tang Xukai, an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania, to deliver this invitation on my behalf. I sincerely hope you will find the time to respond to this expression of educational original aspiration from China, allowing the original heart of Andersen's fairy tales to connect with your journey among the stars. Together, we could write a warm and powerful chapter for global educational innovation and safeguarding the dreams and imagination of young people worldwide.

With highest respect,

Dong Ruixiang
